The Mount Tabor Training College, Pathanapuram founded in 1960 is a unit of an Educational Complex at Pathanapuram which is the happy fruition of the vision and tremendous industry of a towering personality of our immediately previous generation in Kerala, His Grace Mar Thoma Dionysius Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church. His grace initiated his religious and educational endeavours from a beautiful hillock called MOUNT TABOR in the heart of Pathanapuam town.

          Ever since the inception of the college in 1960, we have earned the inevitable reputation of being one of the finest seats of teacher education in the state. Each student who has walked out of its portals is enriched by the true knowledge and intellectual pursuits which are reflected at their workplaces and in their life at large. To mark this year in golden letter in the annals of its history several programmes have planned for the benefit of the posterity.

          The Society of the Order of Sacred Transfiguration Mount Tabor, Pathanapuram is the educational agency which runs the college. It is a charitable society registered under the Societies Registration Act XII of 1955 in 1964 with Reg. No. Q46/1964. The society runs a number of educational institutions, orphanages, hospitals and other philanthropic institutions in and outside Kerala.

          H.H. Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Didimos I, Valiya Bava, Mount Tabor monastery, successor of late His Grace Mar Thoma Dionysius Metropolitan is the patron of the college. His Holiness shows very keen enthusiasm in the Progressive functioning of the college. We are also happy that H.G. the late Zachariah Mar Dionysius Metropolitan of the Madras Diocese and member of Mount Tabor Monastry has been associated with college from its very inception. H.G. Yakob Mar Irenius, Metropolitan of the Kochi diocese was a member of the teaching staff of this college for 17 years. The present Manager of the college is Very Rev. C.O. Joseph Remban.
